The Nippletop is a mountain located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. At 4,620 feet, it is the highest peak in Essex County. The mountain is named for the many nipples (small ponds) that dot its summit. The most popular route to the summit is via the Elk Lake Trail, which begins at the Elk Lake Parking Area. The hike to the summit takes approximately six hours, and is considered strenuous. The views from the summit are spectacular, with 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
