The mountain is named after Lady Ishbel Gordon, the wife of the Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair. The mountain was first ascended by J. Norman Collie and James Outram in 1894. The summit of the mountain is at an elevation of 3,618 metres (11,859 ft).
