The resort is situated on the southern slopes of the Merlin Ridge of the Slate Range, between the heights of Mount Richardson, Ptarmigan Peak, Pika Peak and Redoubt Mountain, all around 3,000 m (10,000 ft) above sea level. The cross-country ski trailhead at Lake Louise Ski Resort is located in the village of Lake Louise, Alberta. From Calgary, take the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1) west to Banff. In Banff, take the exit for Hwy 93 south and drive to Lake Louise. The ski resort is located on the north side of the village.
