Why choose a trail at Parc Michel Chartrand?

Michel-Chartrand Park, used by Longueuil residents, is located in downtown Montreal and is both a recreational area and a nature reserve. The park is an incredible place, about 1.8 kilometers long. Why visit this green place? What's so special about it? That's what we'll find out right away!

Several trails are available:

Michel Chartrand Park is composed of more than four trails. It is an ideal place to jog and even walk in winter. Some sections of the road have even been cleared of snow for this purpose.

There is a wooded area, and paths that wind through it. Other trails go through the Three Lakes area, where there are wetlands inhabited by fish and ducks. You can choose between "inspirational" walking trails and ecological trails with signs. You can contemplate a small fauna and a hundred species of birds.

This green space remains an alternative to the national parks of Îles-de-Boucherville and Mont-Saint-Bruno, allowing contact with nature. Of course, it is not so big, but there are still 20 kilometers of walking and cycling trails.

The opening hours are from 6 am to 11 pm:

Unlike national parks, Michel-Chartrand Park does not close at sunset. Some sections of the road are well lit and you can walk safely at night.

Because there is no need to go out in a hurry, you can spend the last half hour of the day on one of the trails, which is the best time to see the deer. That's right! That's what we call the white-tailed deer. You may encounter a few!

White-tailed deer, birds and ducks:

Hikes are often enhanced by the presence of bird deer and ducks.

Some tourists tend to feed them, which is prohibited in the park. One reason is that the food provided is usually inappropriate and can make them very sick.

There is also a risk that the ducks will become dependent on humans. In any case, you can see them without feeding them.

This is a winter wonderland. The paths and sledding hills are so well groomed. Outdoor, publicly accessible fun at its best.
