Mont Brome (better known as Bromont) is one of Quebec's most renowned localities for hiking. Geographically, it is a hill of volcanic origin located near the city of Montreal.

With its 100km of trails, Mont Brome offers visitors a wide choice of trails adapted to all levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and to all types of hikers (families, groups...). What is interesting is that almost all the trails are accessible free of charge for residents, when tourists have to pay a different rate depending on the type of trail. Anyway, the price is quite economical!

Recommended hiking trail Bromont

If this is the first time you come to Mont Brome, you should know that in this locality the routes are divided between three networks:

- Réseau de la montagne

- Réseau du Lac Gale

- Réseau du mont Oak

The most famous trail is called C1 (or Hiking Belt) and connects the mountain's network with that of Oak Mountain. The loop trail is about 15km long and is of medium difficulty. This trail extends around Mount Brome and is considered a real challenge by hikers, because of the many ascents and descents that are rewarded by a wonderful panorama.

Why visit this place

In addition, Mont Brome can be visited all year round. This locality offers several activities (sports or not) that will make the happiness of the tourists who will visit it. For those who love sports, beyond hiking, you can also practice:

- Skiing

- Cycling

- Horseback riding

- Golf

Several trails in the mountain network are in fact shared with bicycle paths and paths used for mountain maintenance. This will not only allow you to never get bored, but will also make your hike more special compared to the traditional paths, with a rather "urbanized" nature. You should certainly enjoy this type of landscape anyway!

For those who also want to charm their palate, in Bromont you can dedicate yourself to gastronomy and wine. The Léon Courville Vigneron vineyard is very recommended if you want to take a guided tour and wine tasting.

Things not to be missed

Camping Parc Bromont, for example, has 208 sites and is located a stone's throw from Mont Brome, making it perfect for easy access to hiking trails. Nearby there are also 5 golf courses.

If you prefer to spend the night in a hotel, the Auberge Bromont is the ideal solution for families. The hotel is strategically located to take advantage of all the attractions of the village of Bromont and has comfortable and well-equipped rooms.

For a very special stay there is finally the glamping Domaine Yamaska, where you can rent a rustic chalet equipped with all the amenities. It will be like having a house in the mountains!

Finally, we must mention one of the gastronomic specialties that you can taste at Mont Brome, the cheese fondue. At Fondissimo you can try the classic recipe with cubed beef or marinated pork.

Discover the Eastern Townships

Mont Brome is part of the Eastern Townships region, also known as the Eastern Townships, and in particular the Township of Brome-Missisquoi. The region is located in southeastern Quebec and shares the border with the United States for approximately 300km.

The Eastern Townships are considered a true natural painting because of its wonderful landscapes where mountains follow one another in hills and valleys. The forests too, which cover almost 80% of the territory, are an incredible sight, especially when there are the colors of autumn.

Here there are also four national parks. In particular, the Mont-Mégantic National Park is known for its scientific observatory where you can admire the starry sky.

Because of its natural spaces this region is considered one of the most famous tourist destinations for those who love outdoor life. In fact, here you can do sports in all seasons, choosing among mountain biking, hiking, skiing...

The small villages of the Eastern Townships are also very picturesque to see: the architectural style of the buildings is very much affected by the Anglo-Saxon heritage and it seems that time has stood still here.

The Eastern Townships invite tourists to enjoy the friendly atmosphere of its many small restaurants and cafés, where you can try the gastronomic specialties of the region.

And if you still need a reason to visit the Eastern Townships, think of its two wine routes with 30 vineyards, which make this region an interesting destination for all those who would like to spend a stay under the sign of good regional products and gourmet food.
