Move for your health

Are you an outdoor enthusiast?

Whether our activities are formal (sports, training, etc.) or informal (domestic activities, leisure, travel, etc.), the important thing is to move.

Experts agree that 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per day is enough to achieve health benefits.

"We should try never to make easy and sedentary choices," says Jean-Denis Thompson, Director of Training at Cardio Energy.

Going for a walk after dinner, playing outside with the kids or walking the dog is good." The hardest part is often getting motivated and taking action.

Indeed, the intensity of physical activity is determined by energy expenditure (number of calories burned).

Move to be healthy. Mental!

Right now, as many of us have to stay at home to better contain the COVID-19 pandemic, families are closer than ever.

Physical activity plays an extremely important role in maintaining physical and psychological health.

Why move?

Physical activity means allowing yourself to be healthy in your head and body.

By moving regularly, you can get through more difficult times.

Being active releases hormones that help manage stress and help build psychological well-being, build self-confidence and increase self-esteem.

A healthy lifestyle involves many things, including exercising every day, eating healthily and in a balanced way, managing stress and getting a good night's sleep.

You don't have to become a top athlete to see the benefits of physical activity on your mental health.

The good news is that there are significant benefits to moving from an "inactive" status to a "moderately active" status, regardless of a person's weight or fitness level in the first place.

Tips for moving more every day

Try new exercises or varie the activities you like to practice to make your workout routine more fun.

Several small 10-minute sessions can be a perfectly acceptable alternative.

It is also possible to organize regular fun family activities such as a snowshoe ride, a bike ride, a soccer game, etc.

Encouraging small daily actions such as walking to the convenience store or helping to transport grocery bags is also important.

From the age of 5, children should do at least 60 minutes of moderate to high intensity activities each day.
