Why choose a trail at Parc régional du Massif du Sud?

This park, with an area of 119 km², has 20 peaks including the two highest in the region. Walking through the trails, we'll see streams, huge trees, cliffs and rock shelters. On the Creek Middle, there are remnants of a forest system of dams built there nearly a century by loggers and lumberjacks. The trail of the Old Forest leads to a yellow birch, designated "exceptional ecosystem", located in the Valley of Beaudoin Creek. We climb on peaks, including Mount du Midi, from an altitude of 915 m, where an observation tower offers a view extending to Quebec and the Laurentians. Mount Chocolate, from an altitude of 717 m, offers a panorama of the valley. Along the path leading to it, the exhibition Mountains found and Culture relating mountain life in the world. Mont Saint-Magloire, a 360 degree panorama allows to see the American Appalachians, including Mount Katahdin reaching 1700 m. We go through a red spruce forest 200 years to reach a chasm of the river du Pin in the path of the Gates of Hell. Several hiking trails are offered, combining different sections of trails, including two long two-day hike route
