Why choose this trail?

The trail crosses an ancient forest old growth forest composed of birch, maple, spruce and fir. Some trees are over 300 years. We will also see a field of boulders before completing the journey to the cliffs. The Shelters rock path leads to clusters of large blocks covered with red spruce and polypotes Virginia. The Summit of the trail climbs to the summit of the mountain, at an altitude of 483 m, through a forest where spruce are increasingly present throughout the ascent. We will access to a lookout with views of the mountains of Stoneham Mountain Resort, the city and the Owl and Huron rivers. One can also reach this belvedere from Vaillant path that bypasses the large climbing wall.

Beautiful view from the summit. In the winter the path wasn't marked as clearly so I took a wrong turn or two based on footprints. But I loved it. Bring some peanuts to feed the chipmunks at the top!

It is a relatively easy hike, 1.5 hours up and 1 hour down. The rock formation is interesting to look at. Great place for rock climbing. The view from the top is nice.

Excellent hiking spot with some bouldering spots. Did the whole climb with two kids, 5 and 6 y.o. and they really enjoyed it.
