The Mount Mansfield, Vermont is a mountain located in the state of Vermont. At 4,393 feet, it is the highest peak in Vermont and in the Green Mountains. The mountain is named for George Washington's estate, Mount Vernon. The first recorded ascent of the mountain was in 1763 by two British soldiers. The most popular route to the summit is via the Long Trail, which runs the length of Vermont. Other routes include the Sunset Ridge Trail and the Taft Lodge Trail. There are several shelters and campsites along the trails. The summit offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
