Mount Avers (76°29′S 145°21′W) is a mountain 2 miles (3 km) north of Mount Ferranto in the Fosdick Mountains, in the Ford Ranges of Marie Byrd Land. It was discovered in December 1929 by the Byrd Antarctic Expedition and named for Henry G. Avers, chief mathematician of the Division of Geodesy, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, who was a member of the National Geographic Society Commission of Experts which determined that Commander (later Rear Admiral) Richard E. Byrd had reached the North Pole by airplane (1926) and the South Pole (1929).The Mount Avens is a mountain located in Alberta, Canada. At an elevation of 2,744 metres (9,003 feet), it is the eleventh-highest peak in the province. The mountain is part of the Sawback Range, and is flanked by Mount Lougheed to the north and Mount Rundle to the south.
The first ascent of the mountain was made in 1898 by J. Norman Collie and party. The easiest route to the summit is via the east ridge, which is accessed from the Spray Lakes Reservoir. Other routes include the north ridge and the west face.
The mountain is popular for backcountry skiing and mountaineering. There are several glaciers on the mountain, including the North Glacier, South Glacier, and East Glacier.
