Why choose a trail at Mount Yamnuska?

The Mount Yamnuska is a mountain located in the Canadian Rockies, in the province of Alberta. It is part of the Kananaskis Country park system. At an elevation of 2,132 metres (7,001 ft), it is one of the lower peaks in the area, but offers a challenging hike with a steep ascent. The mountain is named for the indigenous Stoney Nakoda people's word for grizzly bear, yamnuska.

The first recorded ascent of the mountain was made in 1898 by J. Norman Collie and A.J. McArthur. The standard route to the summit starts from the east side of the peak, ascending scree slopes and a number of gullies to the summit ridge. There are several other routes on the mountain as well, including one from the west side that is less steep but longer.

The views from the summit of Mount Yamnuska are spectacular, with a 360-degree panorama that includes many of the other peaks in the area. The mountain is popular with climbers and hikers, and is also used as a training ground for more difficult climbs.
