Norman Collie after John Byng, 5th Viscount Torrington, a British naval officer who served as Governor of Gibraltar and was later executed for his part in the failed attempt to relieve the Siege of Minorca. The first ascent of the peak was made in 1903 by J. Norman Collie and party.
