The Mount Byng is a mountain located in Alberta, Canada. At an elevation of 2,859 metres (9,383 ft), it is the ninth-highest peak in the province. The mountain was named in 1898 by J. Norman Collie after John Byng, 5th Viscount Torrington, a British naval officer who served as Governor of Gibraltar and was later executed for his part in the failed attempt to relieve the Siege of Minorca. The first ascent of the peak was made in 1903 by J. Norman Collie and party.
