You, What Do You Dream Of?

Have you ever wondered what makes humans capable of accomplishing feats so extraordinary that it makes you want to light candles in every church in the country? You're there wondering what just happened and especially how it happened. Yet, it forces you to admit that inexplicable things exist and that it's by first seeing them in your mind that they can one day become reality.

For my part, the more I encounter humans who embark on adventures that surpass them, the more it inspires me to do the same. Dreams make us move forward. They force us to leave our comfort zone, in order to discover within ourselves territories never before explored. You have no choice, you have to get out of yourself to reconnect with what's best in you. And tell me how are you going to reach the summit if you don't have a concrete motivation that pushes you to persevere despite the trials? A dream is the form you need to give to something you don't know so that it seems less threatening to you. It's like the promise of a dessert that will make you forget the Brussels sprouts you have to swallow before having it. Admit that the more appealing the dessert, the easier it is to motivate yourself to get past your discomfort. That's why no dream is too big for you.

For my part, there are many dreams I've realized and others to come that will still push me out of my shape. My dreams are mostly made up of expeditions that will lead me to discover new places all around the world. I still dream of high summits like climbing Mont Aconcagua, the highest peak in America, but also, I dream of more accessible summits, like Mont Katahdin or Mont Lafayette.

I chose dreams with my heart without worrying about their form. Sometimes, small dreams only allow you to realize that you possess the qualities to dream big. No dream is inaccessible. Limits only exist because we created them in our mind. Yes, it's that crazy, our imagination makes us break barriers and at the same time shapes the obstacles that will be found on our path. That's why the only way to realize your dreams is to consciously take each step that will bring you closer to your goal.

Along the way, you'll realize that it's all the Brussels sprouts you ate that made you big and strong. And that day you'll have understood that your dream was just a pretext invented to get you out of your comfort zone. The destination is not the real objective, the real adventure is the attitude you adopt during the journey.

Don't look too far for the form of your dreams. Just be content to do something you love. The day you end up appreciating Brussels sprouts, you'll no longer feel the need to eat dessert, because you'll be the incarnation of that dream you live permanently, but that day hasn't come yet.

Until then, above all, don't stop dreaming. It's the most beautiful way you have to become someone more complete.
