Why hike in Qikiqtaaluk?

Qikiqtaaluk is one of the three regions (Kitikmeot, Kivalliq, Qikiqtaaluk) under which Travel Nunavut lists its members (travelnunavut.ca/members). They are also the territory's three census divisions; Travel Nunavut does not publish a tourism boundary map.

Qikiqtaaluk is the Inuktitut name of Baffin Island; the region is Nunavut's easternmost. Its thirteen communities: Iqaluit, Arctic Bay, Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Clyde River, Grise Fiord, Hall Beach, Igloolik, Kimmirut, Pangnirtung, Pond Inlet, Qikiqtarjuaq, Resolute and Sanikiluaq. Sirmilik National Park is reached from Pond Inlet or Arctic Bay; the Unikkaarvik centre is in Iqaluit. (Secondary sources, to be rechecked.)
