Trail description

Description

Buckland Park is a welcoming recreational destination located just 10 minutes south of Rochester, NY. This municipal park offers an easy, accessible trail experience that welcomes hikers of all ages and abilities.

Trail System and Terrain

The Buckland Park Loop Trail is a 1.7 km (approximately 1 mile) looped trail featuring a well-maintained stone-dust path that circles the park perimeter. The easy terrain and minimal elevation gain of just 16 feet makes this an ideal choice for family outings, casual walks, and anyone seeking a relaxing nature experience without strenuous hiking demands.

Park Amenities

Beyond the walking trail, Buckland Park provides numerous facilities designed for family recreation. The park features multiple sports fields, picnic areas, and pavilions ideal for rest stops and meals. Three playgrounds offer entertainment for children, while seasonal restrooms provide visitor conveniences.

Family-Friendly Features

The park's primary appeal lies in its accessibility and multi-use design. The flat stone-dust path accommodates strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers, making it genuinely family-friendly. Open spaces allow children to explore safely while parents enjoy outdoor time. The easy loop format means visitors can complete the full circuit in 30-45 minutes or take their time with multiple stops.

Planning Your Visit

Located conveniently near Rochester, Buckland Park offers easy access for local recreation and casual nature walks. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended, though the maintained stone-dust path requires less technical footwear than wilderness trails. Bring water and consider the seasonal restrooms available at the park.
