🧭 Bougex.com: When Community Was at the Heart of the Outdoors

A Site Like No Other

Before becoming a sports travel agency, Bougex.com was a true human crossroads for outdoor enthusiasts. You didn't just come looking for a hike or an activity — you came above all to meet people. Outing partners, spontaneous groups, discussions, themed evenings... Bougex was the community spirit at its best.

A Social Springboard to Explore Differently

What made Bougex strong was its ability to bring people together around a shared passion. You could:

  • create or join hiking, kayaking, skiing or running events 🏃‍♀️,
  • find a partner to discover an unknown trail 🧍‍♂️🧍‍♀️,
  • participate in Bougex evenings where discussions and projects came together over a beer 🍻,
  • or simply discover corners of the country differently, thanks to the community's energy.

My Story with Bougex

When I started getting interested in long-distance hiking, particularly in the Adirondacks, I had no one in my circle to go with. It was thanks to Bougex that I was able to find partners, exchange advice, and confidently embark on my first big adventures.

Without Bougex, some of my most beautiful hikes might never have happened.

What Bougex Has Become Today

The site is still online, but it has changed course. Today, Bougex.com is an agency specializing in sports travel: expeditions, organized treks, guided running or hiking trips internationally.

It's a serious, well-structured project, but the original community platform no longer exists. This pivot is natural — but it leaves a small void for those who knew the original version.

Bougex's Community Legacy

Bougex paved the way for a social and human approach to the outdoors, well before the massive arrival of social networks.

It inspired:

  • regional Facebook groups,
  • spontaneous hiking collectives,
  • forums and platforms where the human experience is central.

And it reminds us of one simple thing: exploring is good, but sharing the adventure is even better.
