Trail description

Description

The Centre De Vacances Ferme 5 Étoiles sits in the Manicouagan region, surrounded by the kind of landscape that makes it easy to spend a full day outside: thick forest, nearby mountains, and clean, quiet lakes. It’s set up for people who want to be active outdoors, but it also works if your goal is simply to slow down and spend real time in nature.

What the setting feels like

This part of Manicouagan is all about space and scenery. You’ll be walking in lush woods where the light changes constantly as the canopy opens and closes, and the terrain naturally shifts between sheltered forest and more open viewpoints where you can look out toward the mountains. The lakes add another layer to the experience—sometimes you’re hiking with the sense of water nearby, and other times you’re moving deeper into the trees and away from everything except the trail.

Wildlife is part of the draw here. As you hike the well-marked trails, keep your pace relaxed and your eyes moving—watch for movement at the edges of the forest and listen for sounds that don’t match the wind in the leaves. The mix of forest, mountains, and lakes creates the kind of habitat where you can feel like you’re sharing the area with more than just other visitors.

Hiking trails: options for different levels

Hiking is one of the main reasons people come to the Centre De Vacances Ferme 5 Étoiles. The trail network is described as suitable for all levels, which is useful if your group has mixed experience or if you’re trying to choose something that matches your energy that day. Beginners can stick to gentler paths, while more seasoned hikers can look for routes that feel more challenging.

If you like having a clear objective, the area offers a 15 km hike with about 150 m of elevation gain, rated Easy. That kind of profile generally fits a relaxed, steady day where you can stop often—take photos, watch for wildlife, and spend time at viewpoints instead of pushing for speed. Because the trails are well marked, it’s also a good place to focus on the experience of being outside rather than constantly checking for the next turn.

As you move through the landscape, expect variety rather than one single “big moment.” The appeal is in the changes: forest sections that feel immersive and quiet, then stretches where the scenery opens up and you catch those “stunning vistas” the region is known for. The mountains and lakes help keep the route visually interesting, and they give you plenty of natural places to pause and take a longer break.

More than hiking: ways to spend a full day outside

If you’re planning a longer stay or you just want options beyond the trails, the Centre De Vacances Ferme 5 Étoiles is also set up for other outdoor activities. Canoeing is an easy way to experience the area at a slower pace—quiet water, steady paddling, and a different perspective on the forests and shorelines. Horseback riding is another way to explore, especially if you want to cover ground without spending the whole day on foot and still stay close to the landscape.

Having these activities on-site makes it easier to build a flexible itinerary. You can hike in the morning when the air is cooler and the trails feel calm, then switch to canoeing or horseback riding later in the day without needing to drive elsewhere or plan a complicated route. It’s also a good setup for groups where not everyone wants the same kind of day—some people can prioritize hiking while others choose a quieter activity and still feel like they’re part of the same trip.

On-site comfort: accommodations and meals

After a day outside, you can return to comfortable accommodations that balance rustic character with modern amenities. That combination matters when you’re doing active days: you get the outdoorsy feel without having to rough it, and you can actually recover for the next day’s plan.

Meals are available at the on-site restaurant, with dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. It’s a convenient detail for hikers because it simplifies logistics—less time thinking about groceries and cooking, more time on the trail or on the water. The staff are described as friendly and willing to share tips on must-see spots and local secrets, which can be especially helpful if you’re trying to choose between trail options or figure out the best way to combine hiking with canoeing or horseback riding during your stay.

The overall experience in Manicouagan

What stands out about the Centre De Vacances Ferme 5 Étoiles is how naturally it fits into the Manicouagan landscape. You’re not just walking a single trail—you’re spending time in a region defined by forests, mountains, and lakes, with the chance to move through it in different ways. The well-marked hiking trails make it approachable for a wide range of visitors, and the wildlife and views add those memorable moments that make the day feel bigger than the distance you covered.

Whether you’re aiming for a quiet, solo-feeling walk in the woods or you’re traveling with other outdoor enthusiasts and want full days of activity, the setting supports both styles. You can keep things simple—pick an easy route and enjoy the scenery—or build a more varied trip by mixing hiking with canoeing and horseback riding, then settling into comfortable lodging and a good meal before doing it again the next day.
