You Don't Have Time to Waste

Like so many others, you've probably wondered what happiness is made of.

Personally, I spent years polluting my mind with that damn question. And it was the moment I stopped asking it that the greatest miracles happened in my life.

Let me explain.

I've always had a tendency to have lots of projects in my head. I often go in different directions at once.

If I had been Christopher Columbus, I probably would have been so excited discovering another continent that I would have found a way to go around the world 3 times without ever realizing what I had accomplished.

For fear of missing out on an experience or idea that would lead me to improve my life and that of others, I tend to lose focus. It's that part of me that wants to accomplish things for others that has long been the captain of my life's ship.

But one day at 30, I hit a wall. While trying to get back in shape, I took a physical test that told me my body has the biological age of a 69-year-old man!

No need to tell you what a shock that was. At that time I was single and wanted to meet a woman in her thirties. It was by becoming aware of everything those test results implied that the realization hit.

It became obvious to me that there probably weren't tons of thirty-year-old women looking for 69-year-old men to share the rest of their lives with.

This questioning somehow stopped the clock of my life. I still had so many things to experience... and there, life was calling me to order by telling me that I had spent a lot of time on a thousand projects and had left my health along the way.

What could I accomplish that was significant to regain control of my life?

I started by initiating a mutiny. I got rid of that captain who stubbornly docked at every island he crossed, believing he would find treasure there.

I locked the boat's rudder toward the island of getting back in shape and found myself a crew that would help me stay the course in the storm.

And in less than a year, I succeeded!

Once I felt better in my body, I wanted to reconquer the world. But this time I was going to do things for myself, live experiences that bring me pleasure and vitality.

In the process, I understood that time is the illusion of those who don't know where they're going.

Before, I always felt like I was running out of it, today I know that as long as I do what I love and take a step forward to get closer to my goal, it's useless to look back.

Don't do like me and wait to hit a wall.

Everything happens here and now.

Lost time doesn't come back, but the mistakes we've made can help us escape its grip.

Time pushes you around when you have regrets, it smiles at you when you stop to appreciate what is.

Live each of your adventures to the fullest without worrying about the storms on your path. There's nothing for you in the past and the only reason to look to the future is to get closer to what you want to accomplish today.

Everything you do out of love for yourself will never be a waste of time.

Do what you love. Learn to love everything you do. And you'll never feel like you're wasting your time.
