Accessed via Highway 11 and Range Road 85A with decent signage directing to Goldeye Centre trailhead. Trail maintenance remains excellent though winter conditions require microspikes between December and March for safety. The partially frozen lake during my visit created stunning winter scenery. Entry fees apply for both parking and trail access, but facilities justify the cost.

Early morning winter hike delivered mystical misty conditions that enhanced the overall experience beautifully. Following the David Thompson Highway route proved straightforward despite recent snowfall covering the trail. The lake's striking emerald color remains visible even during winter months. Enjoyed peaceful solitude with minimal foot traffic during my extended three-hour exploration of this gorgeous alpine destination.

Perfect half-day adventure showcasing the Canadian Rockies at their finest with manageable terrain for most hikers. The crystal-clear alpine lake reflects surrounding peaks beautifully, creating postcard-worthy views throughout the journey. While parking at Goldeye Centre requires payment, the investment proves worthwhile for accessing this peaceful mountain escape. The 150m elevation gain feels gentle and rewarding rather than challenging.

This short 2.7km hike offers wonderful family-friendly adventure through the Canadian Rockies. The gradual 150m elevation gain makes it accessible for most fitness levels, and we spotted mountain goats during our trek. The pristine lake surrounded by peaceful forest creates a perfect escape from busy life. Just remember that dogs aren't permitted on this trail, so plan accordingly for your furry friends.

Absolutely stunning photography destination with incredible compositions throughout the entire route. The dense forest, rocky terrain, and mirror-like lake surface provide endless shooting opportunities. Late afternoon lighting creates magical reflections of surrounding peaks in the crystal-clear water. The paid access and parking fees are completely justified by the exceptional scenery and well-maintained facilities you'll experience.
