Winter conditions made this hike particularly challenging with icy sections requiring microspikes. Trail markers were harder to spot in some areas, but the path remains followable. Views from the top were absolutely amazing with snow-covered peaks visible in all directions. The descent was steeper than expected and required extra caution on the rocky terrain.

Challenging but rewarding hike with excellent views at the summit. The trail is well-marked with yellow signs and starts moderately before becoming quite steep. The final section has significant rock scrambling, but the 360-degree views from the boulder-topped summit are worth every step. Parking at Marcy Field is convenient and avoids the Route 73 crowds.

Beautiful trail through mixed hardwood forest with several viewpoints along the way. The brook crossing at 1.2 miles is pleasant, but the steep rocky sections afterward are quite demanding. Trail markings are clear throughout, and the summit boulder provides an impressive perch for taking in the Adirondack scenery. Recommend early start to avoid weekend crowds.

Steep and rocky trail that requires good hiking boots. The muddy sections near the beginning can be navigated with care, though some fallen trees create minor obstacles. Trail becomes quite technical with bare rock faces near the summit. Views of Hurricane Mountain and into Keene Valley are spectacular, but this is definitely not for beginners.

Perfect warm-up hike for the High Peaks region. The trail packs significant elevation gain into a relatively short distance, making it an excellent workout. Summit offers stunning panoramic views including Giant Mountain and surrounding peaks. Less crowded than other popular trails, especially on weekdays. The unique boulder at the summit makes for great photos.
